Hikes and hikes

The Petrol prices have been hiked again and this time by a whopping Rs 3.50/- per litre.

So from now in my hometown Hyderabad (where already i think we are paying the highest price) i have to shell out 56 bucks for a litre of petrol.

I still remember when i bought my bike i used to get close to 1.5 litre for 50 bucks which was my daily pocket money (without which i cud not have survived my Btech Days).

And today i cant even get atleast 1 Litre for 50 bucks.

So wat does this mean to me...

> I have to b careful to take out my car (If possible avoid :-))

> may b i shall think of using my company transport (in which i wud waste 4 hrs per day in journey)

> Prefer to stay at home arther than vrooming on bike (which unfortunately i cant control )

Luckily My car is a Duo version and it also runs on LPG. I can prefer usage of Gas as opposed to Petrol.(But still i cant understand why shud a BMW owner pay the same as a Wagon R owner/Bajaj Chetak Owner pays )

I just wonder how Common Mango People wud take this impact. May b Naseerudin Shah can define wat a Stupid Common Man can do.

Already the Inflation is in double digit figures

Petrol/Kerosene Prices are Hiked.

Gold is at an alltime high (Poor fellow T...my collegue..he is marrying in such a dreadful time)

Vegetable prices are sky rocketing (So i asked mom to consider Chicken before buying veggies)

Multiplexes in Hyd have hiked the prices to 150 bucks (and u guyz ask to kill piracy)

Milk becomes dearer by a Rupee.

Cooking Gas price goes up by 25 bucks.

The only thing tat looks CHEAP now is my PAYCHEQUE :-(

Though i am not sure how shud one Control these prices, i sincerely pray to god to hear some gud news coming in amongst all these unhappy News.

And guess wat leaving all these Necessary things untamed, ppl luv to spend time fighting to draw lines between countries,States and Castes.

Dandeli Adventure trip.....

After a long hiatus, I thought it was time for me to do something that I never did, something very crazy enough to think differently. At the same time I got an update mailer from ghac that there was space to accommodate me for their Dandeli trip to be done on 29th and 30th May 2010.

To give a prologue, Dandeli is a small village near Hubli. Surrounded by thick greenery and a hometown for many kinds of wildlife and different species of birds.

We started off on Friday Evening from MGBS at 8.30 PM in a KSRTC Megahdoot AC bus. All the ticket arrangements have been done by our trip organizer…Nandu . A truly amazing guy who is doing this trip 3rd time and 2nd one in may 2010 to the same place (Have to appreciate his patience as I wud have nvr done this kind of stuff …go to the same place 3 times …huhhhh) A very passionate guy and cheerful person.

We reached Hubli by 8 AM. There were 2 Jeeps arranged to move to Dandeli from here. Oops forgot to mention our jeeps had some funny names..one was called Sahil and the other Dolly (we lovingly mocked dolly dolly dolly…). From Hubli it is 70 kms approx and it took 2 hours to reach the farmhouse (bcoz of the not so gud roads).

The Farm house “Stanley’s Farmhouse” resembled like one in many of our bolllywood stylish guesthouses. Situated among lush greenery it stood alone. It is being run by a group of frenz who organize the events there.

We reached the farmhouse by 11 AM. Had quick breakfast, got freshen up and we headed to start off the action . The first we headed was River Crossing. I remember doing a similar thing when I attended my Air force Selection at Mysore. Looked simple but required great gusto to push back urself especially while returning where I had to carry my whole weight on my arms (when I completed someone told me tat I shud b leaning back so tat my weight wud be shared between my hands and body equally …Kaaash this fellow wud have said this before I started…phewwwww)

Once I came back I was completely exhausted (may b its been a longtime that I had some REAL Pyhsical workout…hehehe). I sat for 10 minutes as I went completely Blank for sometime trying to catch a Breath.

After that I along with a few others came back to the Farmhouse, had lunch and started off to the Natural Jacuzzi over the river Kali. It was a great one as this Jacuzzi removed all the tireness that we had since morning and made us really comfortable with the surroundings.

At around 4 Pm we started to the White Water Rafting point some 20 kms away. There were many people already waiting . While I was amazed as to how long wud it take for all of us to complete the task , we all did it at the same time. There were 8 Rafts and each cud accommodate 8 ppl excluding the trainer. The Main trainer gave some instructions and arranged into groups of 8 and gave each group an Instructor for the day.

As we got to our raft after fighting as to who wud sit in front, I luckily was chosen by our instructor to move in to the first place (Being tall shud have its own advantages)…I and Aftab took the lead positions on either side.

Our Instructor Shankar bhai was a cool and calm goin person. He made us feel comfortable with the river by making us jump into the river…yeah even non swimmers like me jumped into the river (ofcourse with the Life Jacket+Headgear). Once we all felt ok. We kick started our raft.

Each jump in the rafting is called a Rapid. And I enjoyed every rapid sitting in the front and cruising the raft . It was amazing one and I made sure that I didn’t close my eyes when I encountered the rapid. As we raced with other rafts we kept on having head-on collisions with other rafts and drenching each other shouting “Pls don’t waste water” 

It was a 9 Km Ride with 8 Rapids. The 1st and 3rd rapids were quite exciting pumping my adrenaline high.

All in all it lasted for nearly 90 minutes . Our Dolly and Sahil were waiting for us at the other end to pick us back. After a couple of photo shoots (unfortunately we cud not get snaps on the raft in the river as we cud not manage cameras in tat water splashes and had to forgo) we headed back to our Farmhouse . The cool breeze around made us shiver and by the time we reached the farmhouse we were dry.

Refreshed ourselves with a bath and chai and we gathered around the Bonfire to have fun. After some gosssips we had our dinner. As I tght the day was over, suddenly there was an announcement that we still had to do the Night Safari.

So being helpless joined my crew in their expedition to see wildlife in their natural habitat. Geared with Torches we began to illuminate our way into the deep jungle with an expert. The moon was quite bright and it provided enough natural lighting to recognize each others faces. Though I hadn’t witnessed any Wildlife in the darkness Pavan and some others claimed that they had the opportunity to see a Deer and some Flying Squirrels. Guess I was following my crews footsteps and playing with the Torch.

At one point in the jungle we all halted at a point and switched off all the torches and felt the sudden chill running down the spine.

We reached back after the night trek at around midnite 12. We called it a day and arranged our Beds in the moonlight. Watching the stars and sleeping under the blue sky in a Jungle with natural sounds around was a great experience.

…Stay tuned Day 2 to come up……
