aN aChIeVeR....

No way!!!! Let me keep quiet….

This is what I have been telling myself ever since I heard the breaking news from my friend.

<<<<<<< Rewind 30 mins <<<<<<

Hey Vam Do u know ‘T’ got an admission into Harvard??

Spellbound (could not utter a single word…for 2 minutes I was lost) not sure of how to respond I was just lending my ear to the caller and gazing at inanimate objects aimlessly.

The last time I heard such news was when one of my friend made it to ISB. At that time he said even when you get a 780 score in GMAT you can’t think of Harvard business school as the profile needed to be heavier. All the folks who make it HBS are intellectual geeks. They have something EXTRA in their CV that makes them Super stars with wings.

Having known ‘T’ for the past 4 months, I knew that this candidate was a child prodigy. It took me 3 months to understand what makes T different from the rest of us. T knows only 1 thing and it is T’s Love/Life/Passion…to simply put T’s breath. When I read long posts of T, I always appreciated the writing style…more than that the free flow of thought that T gets away with riding the fine line.

T doesn’t write about Economic reforms or Bilateral Treaty’s amongst developing countries. T writes about simple human emotions but goes deep into them .

I am HAPPY for T for 2 reasons…one on making it to Harvard ..and secondly that I know a person who really made it to Harvard (I have read about such achievers in books till now)

All the Best ‘T’….May you keep excelling in every future endeavor of ur’s….

T Rockssssssss!!!!

Social networking ….a boon turning into a bane

“I hate gandhi”….this was a message posted on her wall by one of my distant cousin on her facebook profile on oct 2nd.

And there were close to 30 comments for the same from different friends chiming in their views hating Gandhi.

I Personally feel even though you have the right to speak whatever you want to , you need to exercise restraint when commenting in public because it is humanely impossible not to hurt others with such remarks.

I have seen many of the GEN X whiz kids making such mockery about some of the well respected personalities. So this made me ponder over whether Social networking is a Boon or a Bane ??

It is always good to stay connected with your loved ones especially when you have to stay away from them most of the times in this materialistic world. Be it Facebook / twitter/ Orkut/Buzz/ Blogs .

It is always difficult to walk the fine line between expressing our thoughts and sounding abusive.

It would be highly appreciable if we can limit our personal ire’s to our surroundings rather than going public just to make it as a fashion statement. If I hate my neighbor that doesn’t necessarily mean I go public ON AIR and vent out my disappointment and fall prey to anti social elements who always keep on scorching for such channels.

Even Sugar when consumed in excess doesn’t taste sweet.

Play it safe..Stay on the line...

random thgts....

What is going on in my mind at this point of time?

Well there are quite a few things that have started to bother me off late. For the past 10 days I have been dreaming to kick start something which for various reasons I understand I am not able to. So I thought I would sit down and dissect it into pieces to find the root cause.

 Procrastination….the first time I heard this word I was in my graduation and I wondered how do we spell it. But I never used it. For the past 10 days I have been using this word daily. I have been procrastinating my schedule plan. Yes I have been POSTPONING my schedule.

 FEAR….This is the fear to fall again. The last time I attempted to do this I had a miserable failure. I lost it. Even after 3 months of rigorous schedule I failed. The very moment I think to start off with my plan my past failure brings nightmares to me. I am afraid. I am worried that if the same thing repeats again what am I gonna do ??

 Lifestyle…My lifestyle has changed a lot since my last attempt. I have got a few new caps to wear to fulfill those roles. I have got some additional things to take care off.

 Movies…don’t get me wrong. Movies are my passion. I want to stay abreast with all movie related news and I surf a lot on all the junk sites to stay updated with the quick bites, I download all the new songs , watch all good movies. Somehow my passion has started to eat off my time which was meant to achieve another dream of mine.

 Sleep…now don’t laugh at this. My body doesn’t listen to me once iam off to bed. I have been trying very hard to get up early. I read somewhere that our body needs 5 hours of sound sleep to charge up. So with this thought I go to bed early and could not get up even after setting up 3 alarms.

I saw a video on you tube of some athlete called Raymond who personified to explain what the word PERSEVERENCE means. When you begin something you need to end it – no matter whatever happens.

Come what may you should never give up .Dont let the destiny take you to somewhere
where everyone wants you to be, instead change the track and move to the place where YOU want to be.

I know maybe I should say this kind of stuff once I achieve my goal…..hmmmm..only winners words make sense…

Mr.Brand Conscious....

‘Brand’dish folks…

At the outset let me clarify that this post doesn’t intend to raise a finger at any one. It has been just my observation how people’s choices change over a period of time.

I recently asked my collegues to join me for a dinner .Most Fridays we go for a dinner and then head out to houses. RAMADAN around the corner Hyderabad buzzes with the festive colors all around. I don’t know what exactly is ramzan or why is it celebrated. All I know is that this is the season for the world renowned HALEEM (a delicacy made with Wheat, Mutton and other special spices). Recently Hyderbadi Haleem has been conferred the status of a Geographical Indicator status

(For those of you wondering what does a Geographical Indicator stand for , it is a special status granted by the government and a kind of special recognition that this object is now a part of the rich heritage of the concerned locality…ex: Indian Basmati rice, Tirupati Laddu, Champagne.,etc)

Coming back to my tryst with my colleagues to join me for a Haleem eat out, it seemed no one was interested (or rather I should put it as ‘excited’). If they had no mood to come out for dinner I would not have logged such a big post . Indeed we went for dinner on that night but to a different place (in a brand locality).

The whole turnaround of events made me think about the change in our preferences as we grow old.

• We no longer like the Masala Chai in the T- stall on the roadside (I love the masala chai at our campus gate )
• we no longer prefer to go to eat at places such as Cafes (not the CCD’s but the small café that we used to hang for all our gupships in our college days (our hangout was at Hotel Hylite café, near our colony bustop)
• it has been ages that we watched a movie in a cinema hall in our local area (I miss that crowd that we used to be a part of in VIMAL Theatre at our school)
• The tailor who used to stitch clothes for generations has closed his shop next door
• The Local markets see a low turn around on weekdays
• The General Store fellow at the corner of our lane seems to use the products for his family only

I am not here to comment on anyone but I would like to make appoint clear that I would like to relish those moments that I spent in all the above places.

Being Brand/Health/Social conscious certainly helps in our showing how mature we have turned , but it is worth to stay amateur if the experience is to relive our past.

Chi Vedava Jeevitam….

It has been close to 4 years that I have been working and never in my life did I feel so pissed of as I was today.

Whichever way I see I only see that I have messed up with everything around me.

Everything seems to be adding their own pinch of flavors to my headache.

My professional life has got no way to make me happy to come to office.

My personal life companions feel that I am not spending quality TIME with them (Little do they realise that I am not spending time with myself)

I never dreamt of working so HARDLY that even in my dreams I dream of the same issues.

Ever since my Sony MP3 player stopped working i lost interest in listning to music which in a way would have consoled me and cajoled me to a different world. I screwed it up by carelessly drenching in rain while coming to home from office.

Now if mom gets a chance to read this she is gonna kill me…I promised her that I would get our Microwave Oven repaired and it has been almost close to 6 months that I haven’t got that fixed up…whenever I call the customer care they say they would send someone..but alas no one turns up and even if any one does turn up they come on a working day to my door without prior intimation….huh

Added to my woes the rains in Hyderabad are only making me feel worst of all times. While people in different parts of the country might have been rejoicing that this year it has been raining very well, people like me curse and would refer to call this as Floods as opposed to rains. The Incessant rains lead to water logging and frequent Traffic jams.

As I have to go to my office via a Bridge (MMTS Hitech city station) and that gets choked up with vehicles of all genres Hatchback, Sedan,SUV,MUV,Luxury, 2/3 wheelers.
So even though I have my car I am forced to go on my bike which gives me a hope that I would be able to cut down my travel time by 50%. But luck always never favors me and so most often I end up drenching myself in the rains and their resultant Potholes.

It is at times like these that I feel I could have become some one else leading a great life enjoying every moment of what I do, had I dared to take a step to opt for something different.

I see my cousin sister who is quite content with her work and she is content because she gets to do wat she likes the most. She runs a Kindergarten School. Though she is an Average scorer of all the people I knew she is the one who is enjoying a lot in wat she does. While all the so called Toppers slog their bottoms and curse for their daily chores….like ME :-(

Wish life also had an option to rewind

I am not going to watch movies….

Well I missed to add a word in my blog title…” I am not going to watch ‘regular’ movies”

That was wat I felt after watching a regular series of formula oriented movies whose content involved only one common thing…and tat is NOTHING.

To be sincere I remember the first movie that I watched in a theatre which was a regular telugu movie. But I never knew that my passion or love for movies would go much beyond watching movies just as movies but something more than that.

After that movie I have watched hundreds of movies.

Mostly telugu till my School days. Slowly turned to hindi and finally to English.

To be specific I cud not understand English movies till my engineering days. I remember my first English movie was Jurassic park. And my understanding of an English movie was limited to only MEGA movies which involved lots of special effects and stuff…well this topic was actually not started with the intention to write something about my love towards English movies. That can be taken as another topic Vam…now let me return to my original topic.

To be frank I got fed up of watching regular movies.

A Movie which has got nothing NEW or Innovative to make the audience feel worthy enough of their ticket cost.

Off late let me admit I have been watching pretty DUMB movies. It was when I was watching this movie called SIMHA (apparently a blockbuster movie ...at least tats wat many beleived). I was able to predict every scene and the director never disappointed me in making my predictions turn reality on Screen.

It was on tat day I realized that instead of watching such movies I cud have made better use of my money.

May b some off beat movies.

And here is my list for watching the forthcoming movies…

UDAAN
AISHA
Peepli Live.

I saw UDAAn today…shall try to complete the list pretty soon….

A Bandh tat survives no purpose....

I never knew that people would take my previous blog post so seriously.

Though i feel happy that the National parties along with regional parties have started to react for my blog post "Hikes and Hikes" to take counter effective measures to control the rising prices

But i don’t understand wat is the point in making such a FUSS about the issue when they are not serious to find a root cause to the problem.

Wat does this Bandh mean to…

> People like me who are reluctant to join Bandh (also reluctant to go to office :-)) sit at home writing lengthy blogs venting out our anguish.

> While it is the school and college lads who make the most out of this bandh (at least the corporate students’ wud get some relief from their regular chores of studies...ooops not the residential folks)

On a serious note...

> By forcing people to accept BANDH for 1 whole day political parties would get ample coverage in Media and tat too absolutely free.

> The ill-mannered, vociferous cohort groups that follow their demigod leaders who do not understand anything about INFLATION or have never heard of any plans being chalked out to control price rises would have activity for 1 complete day.
(How about the people who make their daily living by working as daily laborers?? Due to this disruption they wouldn't have work for 1 complete day and as such their families are forced to be hunger struck )

> Observing Bandh has become synonymous to wrecking havoc in the city. it is like a sif you have been given the power to rule the city as u want. You can close any shop that u don’t like and keep the shops near ur party offices with buzzing crowds. All the chai waallas and tiffin centre snear these party office can remain open to serve the hunger needs of these rampage mongers while the Aam aadmi for whom this bandh was intended has to be hunger driven on this day.

> Poor transportation system. It has become and object on which everyone can show thier anger. Watever may be the reason you are always free to go and break Bus panes, disrupt railway tracks

hey but i have to rush to my office..catch u later....
