Hippopotomonstro Sesquippedaliophobia…..

Do you suffer from Hippopotomonstro Sesquippedaliophobia (HSJJ)??

No its not a disease nor is it any kind of dish name.

At the first glance all I was able to understand is tat its some kind of fear (since phobia).

But later understood that its actually the fear of using Long Words.

Well don’t ask me who invented this 15 syllable word. Because I cud not even muster enough evidence for the existence of this word.

Even I figured it out in today’s The Hindu literary section. Just like Chattisgarh Governer said when he visited the office of the Hindu “Once The Hindu publishes an item, then I take it as reliable”. So is the case with me.

Even on 31st December you see its the only News Paper concerned about the Israel attack on Gaza Strip, Pakistan India War of words with sadly no mention of any new year Blast Events LL.

Truly a Responsible Paper, may be I need to buy a copy of Times of India to help myself out with my plans.

Wish u a terror free & Happy New Year 2009!!!!

The glass is still Half full…….

“Hey Dude…Have u checked out the New Year bash up Plan options” asked my colleague to confirm the 31st night outing plan.

“Not yet yaar…but shall check the various offers and ping you back” .

Given the fact that this year the 31st night passes are to be bought by my colleague as he owes us a birthday party(mind u the bday was in June 2008 JJ), so there were huge preparations being made in the team to burn a deep hole into this fellow’s pocket.

How idiotic did this turn out to him ? Had he not been petty bourgeois enough in June he could have managed the treat with much lesser amount than now. Nevertheless I need to be happy as I am going to have the privilege of enjoying my New Year Blast at the cost of some one else’s Expense.

But am I really happy??

Firstly the Economic melt down which I thought was a Subject for Editorial topic(issues which I consider never affects me) started to inflict its fangs upon me via the cost cutting options being used by my company to fight back the bubble burst. The result declining income and winnowing savings and drying up off coffee machine in my floor.

Looks like the Mumbai terror strike is going to stay back for some more time. Mindless Political Statements by our Demagogue leaders (kerala Chief minister, AR Antulay remarks over hemant karkare, and MTV latest one is the stmt of Digvijay singh).

Pakistan seems to be divided into a so called Elected Democratic government with no powers and Military headed by ISI. While from one side of the coin the govt agrees to support India in Drive against terror, the military side is mounting pressure by increasing the headcount along the Border. Now how does this bother me C’mon guyz wat if a War is waged (sounds adrenaline pumping action ..but leaves everything to rubbles no hope reckons)

Also I was helping a good friend of mine to clear off the air that she had regarding a Guy. She likes this guy and admires him but she is not sure if its something beyond admiration so here comes me the naïve peacemaker at her rescue to help her understand what exactly does she want in life. (Sounds interesting ….as i havent understood as to wat do I want in my life)

I am not sure what my future would be. My MBA plans appear to have been covered by dust as I try to clean that up and make a new start. Chatting with MBA aspirants like me, to keep that flame up. Shall push ravi and raj to prepare intensely so that I get the right jerk by seeing them

Our Long drive trip which we desperately wanted to complete in 2008 shows no sign of turning green from the current hold scenerio. With only 1 day left there is no chance that we may make it this year.

More likely than not….i am still seeing the brighter things in life to cheer me up like the New movie releases, blogging tremendously, Hitech City Traffic jams, Couples near the coffee machine , cafetaria colors.,etc

So lets party 2008 and fret about the consequences in 2009…. The glass is still Half full

In the Shadow of Violence....

After a Sumptous Sunday lunch (tat too with mom’s special delicacy of fish pulusu and fish iguru …hello the specials are to welcome my Sister JJ) and smsing rather warning my frenz not to disturb me for the next 3 hrs as I wud b busy (u guessed it right!!!!) and was waiting for my Royal siesta.

Torpidly I picked up the Sunday Edition of The Hindu which has not yet been unfolded by any one at home. Was going through some articles and felt that the Magazine edition shall help me to induce to sleep. As I was skimming through the edition I found one particular article attracted my attention , an article which was describing the plight of ordinary citizens in Kashmir and the ordeals being faced by them.

Its disheartening to learn that they are being subjected to many kinds of human rights violation leave apart the trauma caused to them by the Militant Section. Even the CRPF, Border Security forces who are assumed to be their saviors are trying to take unfair advantage of them just because their pleas go unheard off.

I was petrified to learn about something called APDP.

APDP…is the Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons in Kashmir.

Currently about 8000 to 10000 Youth have been picked up for interrogation by various Security Agencies and have never returned home nor have been declared dead officially. Their Parents have started to raise a Protest to enquire about the well being of these youth and are being paid deaf ear.

In the light of Elections being held in Kashmir and given the fact that this time the Voting audience have increased in many districts, the need of the hour is to have a government which shall hear their pleas and take up necessary actions to at least make these parents feel that they have not done any mistake by electing this Govt by risking their lives. Irrespective of whether its National Conference or Congree or PDP hope their pleas are heard to restore people's faith back in Democracy.

Imagine if there had been one of us or any of our jaan pehchaan in that list of APDP how debilitating would that experience be. If I don’t call back my home by 9 Pm itself my mom and sis ring my mobile up n number of times, how enervating would it be when ur brother/Son/father/lover was there in that list and we form a part of APDP trying to connect loose ends only to pray that they are safe somewhere on this planet.

Hope the Newly elected Governament restores the faith levied upon them.

P.s: Blog drafted on Sunday afternoon...postin it today :-)

Em-tio-nal Atyachaar….

Tauba tere nakhrey …Tuaba tera pyaar….tera Emo-tio-nal Atyachaaar…..”Perfect timing for this song from the yet to be released movie Dev D to be played as I am made to bear the brunt of this unremitting atyachaar.

At the behest of Mom, I went to pick up mom after 1 hour from the birthday Party thrown out by our neighbors to celebrate their Grand Daughter’s 1st birthday.

Mom who has always been quite Altruistic, offered to drop our neighbors as well since they were planning to take an auto stopping them to have the utmost pleasure of a chauffeur driven Wagon R(have to be pompous as the chauffeur was none other than me)

I normally would not entertain such request had it been told to me before in hand. But at the last minute I was shocked to see that Mom was actually being followed by my Neighbor. I am not being rude, but some how the very sense that this old lady who is our neighbor (let me call her MM for varied reasons ) is always interested in out- of –her-house matters interrogating people to update herself with the recent developments and thats wat I am not comfortable with.

Wat else can I do at this point of time rather than Smile at MM and wish her. (Just like Vinay Pathak in the movie Dasvidaniya where he cant utter a word against his mom LL).

As I started the vehicle, MM’s curiosity raised to know how the party was organized and she knew how much did our other neighbor’s spend for this, and from where did they pull up resources for this…hufffff

Added to my travail and dispossession the traffic at KPHB was at its peak ,being Sunday and most of the Hyderabadis working out of hyd had to bid farewell to home for the last time in 2008.

MM slowly started to move the topic closely to my issue. She blatantly asked my Mom about my marriage ,now that I am well settled citing my strong CV of a Job & car (never knew this is called as settlement ) trying to push me from the frying pan to fire. I could see my Mom’s eyes gleaming with anxiety to share the fact that she has been getting such Queries from her frenz, collegues and she was readying herself to start the list of proposal’s with the most Handsome offer (or rather Bid) as the first one.

I signaled to Mom that she better keep it down or else I would have to create a 1999 kargil episode once we reach home. But as the famous quote goes“Pennu toofanu ni Plastic Godugu tho aapaleru”(U cant stop a Cyclone with a Plastic Umbrella), I could not control my Mom’s cyclone of information.

MM looked very content with this info as she seemed to get the right ingredients for her next day’s matinee talk with the other Septuagenarians. This is not the first time but MM is quite keen to know what we do or rather I am doing (god wat does she do with all this info….i hardly can remember the birthday’s of all my frenz..and with out orkut I wud have been cursed by most of them).

As I drop MM near her home, She bids Gudnite and showers her blessings upon me which included…that I shall b married and have my own child by this time next year …phewwwww both in 1 year @^^@$%$.

Mom…………Grrrrrr….tera Emotional atyaachaar….%@$#$@#$$@# LL

nachavuley - telugu movie review

“Amma Enduku kannave veedini ?”

“Nuvvu Nachaka ” comes the reply from tanish, the child actor who performed the role of Sonali bendre’s brother in the movie manmadhadu.

Ever wondered how time passed by after the movie. I still feel the movie is as gud as the one released this year. Credit goes to trivikram.

Sravan my frend told me about the movie “Nachavule”, in which the hero is Tanish. Just was wondering had it been so much time tat even this chap became a Hero.

I always had a good feeling for Ravi babu movies though some of them have been debacles, some of them put up a great work by him. Whether its Allari ,Soggadu or Anasuya - Ravi babu is the guy who makes different movies.

He gives utmost importance to script that even minute details are taken gud care of in his movies. Be it giving recognition to every artist (starting from the light boy) or showing up different way of picturising the same old clichéd scene.

The Movie is very good. It brings in the Tender touch of a Fresh love story which off late has been missing in many movies.

Ramoji rao is back with a bang to his legend of making cute lovestories like Nuvve kavali, Anandam and Nachavuley is definitely going to be joining the same genre.

Though it appears that Ravi wanted to have a Different Publicity for his movie with Cute Doggies, monkey’s.,etc may be that’s one reason why the movie started on a dull note. But the movie is gradually picking up as it is finding to resonate itself with the Urban student community who envisage and envy to have a Wonderful couple as depicted in the movie.

The lead pair is cut enough to make every one in the audience feel comfortable with. And mind you this movie is not only for Children or Adults it has elements that would definitely strike a chord with the Parent community as it deals with some sensitive subjects like responsibility sharing with Kids, being frenz which I guess every child wants to be associated with.

I haven’t even checked who the music director was, but for the past two days ever since I saw the movie I have been listening to only Nachavuley Songs. The songs are fresh upfront with the lyrics adding the right dose to make the moment relish upon.I liked the complete album.

The movie may have its own faults like dragging end, but you can forgive the last 20 minutes of the movie for the first 90 minutes of enjoyement that you have.

All faces on the screen are new and you don’t find any resemblance to any known characters.

Go and watch it amidst the hue and cry of King and Ghazini, you will not repent for spending your 50 bucks in vain.

Hyderbadi Biryaani….

Now if I don’t get sleep I start to pester people online/Offline. At 4.50AM in the morning I do not dare to do pester them kyon ki mujhe pata hai …had I resorted to that act 2008 shall be my date of Expiry JJ.

So to make myself involved into some think tank process, was wondering what am I very fond of about Hyderabad. Apart from cute girls (yes u do have them in hyd…hope some of u agree), Munna bhai kind of Hinglish with a tinch of Urdu.,etc.

One thing that tops the list is the delicacy of Hyderabad and tats our Biryaani. Inadvertently even people who never knew the importance of this delicacy have fantasized it to be the Best benchmark for any biryani…Thanks to the unbridled efforts of many true spirited hyderabadi’s.

Well I was preparing my own list of favorite outlets or Should-Visit places to taste the Hyderabad Biryani. And here it goes.

  •  Shadab @ Opposite Madina
  • Café Bahar @ basheerbagh
  • Prince @ mehdipatnam
  • Hotel Alfa @ Opposite Secbad Railway Station
  • Bawarchi @ Opposite Sandhya 70MM
  • Astoria @ near Bawarchi
  • Hyderabad House

Adding into the list is every Galli Biryaani which is famous for their authentic flavors J

Yeah I do agree that there are restaurants also whose Biryani tastes good, but the above mentioned list consists of options where no Credit/Debit Cards are accepted so you can understand the authenticity of these options. (atleast the top 4 still don’t accept cards, the rest have started to….Globalization has started to change them)

I was informed that trains coming from Delhi or any northern state if at all they are passing via Hyderabad by lunchtime ,most of the trains have the option of availing Hyderabad Biryaani for lunch which the crew orders depending on the number of requests.

Now there is a very interesting story about Biryani which you can read when u step into any Hyderabad House where the tables are well decorated with these pieces of tales which form a gud reading.

And mind you as one my frend says…”yaar Biryaani is supposed to be made with Ghosh…Mutton..which is now transformed to chicken and sadly into Vegetarian also”.

But Veggies have their own way of tasting Biryani.

Winter ho ya Summer ya ho Rainy day....A Biryani shall be a gr88 xcuse....

sInIsTeR sPeCuLaTiOnS.....

Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Ms.Mayawathi is on her south Indian trip to garner a few more vote banks for the forthcoming elections. As part of her Promotion campaign for Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) a party which has got not many patrons in these states, she was in Chennai yesterday.

What else can you expect from a current Political Leader? As usual she began to sing their party’s Swan Song about their achievements in Uttar Pradesh….blah..blah…

To woo the party workers and her targeted vote banks she mentioned that her party has written to the central government to include a section of economically poor forward caste denizens, along with Muslims, backward classes, Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe to be given reservation.(And for those who have reservations she has proposed to increase their ambit). And BSP shall converge all their efforts to make this dream of her a reality.

As a token of respect we feel proud to share a certain privilege (being cautious to avoid Reservation) for our Defense people because of whose prudent fortitude we are able to sleep peacefully.

To give a fair chance to people who have been disabled by fate, and give them equal opportunity to prove themselves we offer a special privilege to Differently abled people.

Also to bring more women out of their kitchens and prove themselves to be treated as equal to men, we have a special privilege to them as well.

I am just wondering if in addition to these , what if Ms.Mayawathi’s propositins bear fruits?

Who else is left from the ambit of reservation ? If everyone is given reservation are we committing Impropriety by using the word RESERVATION?

Until now people fought for Reservations and if the above prognosis turns out to be a plausible one we may see people fighting for greater % es of reservation which would lead to Sordid Predicament.

eQuAl & OpPoSiTe

“i dont require ppl like u ….in my life….thnx a lot for everything ….u will never stop commenting”

Scene Setup: The background music was that of K3G title track, front end was a so called Pentium 4 crt box,512MB ram HP7540 machine whose keyboard strokes are slower than a typical Jagjit singh ghazal lyric, and the icing on the cake was the coffee machine in my bay has been removed making this lazy bum move one floor down to get the muddy greasy coffee...So emotions draining out like a Subhash ghai's Yaadein...(havent seen Yuvraaj still)

No this is not a liner told to/by SRK in his movie Rab Ne by/to Anushka, neither was this a liner told to/by Hritik in his movie Kaho na Pyaar hai by/to to Amisha.

May be this sounds similar to what Akshay Khanna says to Aamir in DCH.

And today I played my role of being Aamir. This was what a Sweet friend of mine had to say about me.

I felt aghast partly because my comments hurt my friend and partly because my friend hurt me with these lines. Thank You Mr. Newton for prepostering this effect long back by means of your famous “Newtons 3rd law – For every action there is EQUAL & OPPOSITE reaction”

It feels so bad that your friend doesn’t understand that you were trying to cheer them up bcoz u cant see them feel sad (as if your bike’s 2 tyres got punctured amidst a highway with no access for help to shout…phew such Ghatiya B grade sa cmparison $!@#$!@^# but cant help it).

Nevertheless I am happy that at least by yelling out at me, my friend became normal…back again to casual work…

That makes me realize may be during times of distress we yell/curse/are tempered with our family, frenz, love, collegue…. some words can’t be taken back.

In particular when you are in friendship, you never help your friends, you do things to make them feel happy or to get that smile onto their face.

No Room for “Thanks” or "Sorry" ( words that bring the greatest distance between frenz)

Reminds me of the song from Rockford….
“Yaaro Dosti…badi hi khoobsurat hai…
yeh na ho toh kya phir yeh zindagi hai…koi tho hai….”

Tough Decisions

Today I happened to accompany a friend of mine for his SP Jain Student interaction program held at Taj Krishna. The interaction lasted from 7 Pm to 10 Pm as my friend came fully prepared to grill the team, regarding the various prospects and options that a GMBA (their mba prog is called a Global MBA prog) offers him

All said and done, the GMBA sounds to be an interesting one, with its twin city model 6 months learning in  Dubai  and 6 months learning in Singapore including a  three week learning at Toronto – Canada. Now that promises to be Truly Global.

My poor friend had has own inhibitions as to which specialization does he need to apply for. He was planning for a Specialization in Finance (as numbers and especially cnbc tv18 lures him too much that he is struck to cnbc wondering and trying to make out his own interpretations of those numbers.)

Coming from an Engineering background and working with a Software firm truly made his dream to pursue an MBA-Finance a distant dream. After the Interaction the poor chap was advised to opt for Services Management and Marketing (SMM) a specialization which the Vice President of the college suggested that would be a Best fit for my dear friend given my frez stron analytical skill set.

The suggestion made him feel to runaway from the place to mark his protest.

All through our way back home I had to convince him that SMM also sounds as a good option and had he opted for investment banking or wealth management he wuld have had tough time competing himself with Finance guyz (like CPA’s,CFA’s ). Now SMM shall help him during his placement season as his current 2 years of Work Ex shall help him pick a better deal when compared to a Finance offer wherein he would be considered in the basket of freshers.

I am not sure what he is going to finalize upon but as of this minute, he is inclined towards SMM.

The Situation reminds me of another friend Ravi’s blog “Equations of lyf”. Certainly in this case the equations have just changed in due course of interaction.

In my Pursuit of happ-I-ness….

“Hello my name is Chirs Gardner” says Will smith in the opening scene. While it may seem the movie is all about an Autobiography of Chris gardner, it isn’t only it.

There are quite bitter truths that are shared in the movie like the one where will smith explains that Thomas Jefferson got the idea to put it as Pursuit of Happiness rather than Happiness in the declaration of independence stressing it out that its always our pursuit to be happy.

Now I have been longing to watch this movie another time since a couple of days just to rejuvenate myself and make myself comfortable that life isn’t always the same. And here it goes all of sudden when I feel bored at around 11.45 PM I sign on to watch Mr.Chris Gardner and remembering my life in 2008 i blog upon ....

I guess there is a Chris Gardner in me too- who dreams Big, who wants to do something for his loved ones, who is in his pursuit of happiness. While ,my life isn’t that complicated as was his in the movie but somewhere down the line I feel that iam trying to mix up many things in my pursuit of happiness. No Comparisons apropos to chris.

Chris gives me immense strength , bolstering up my energy bringing back verve in my way of thinking. Ruminating of the fact that the year 2008 is going to end in another 2 weeks and ecstatic about the all new vibrant year 2009 I started to think what have I achieved in 2008.

Brooding over 2008, it has been a fantastic one giving me a chance to prove myself professionally and outsmart my competitors. 2008 started with a high note, I bought my first Car (imagine the first vehicle that I bought in my life is a 4 wheeler…WOWWWW).

2008 brought in new friends, some who are going t be there with me for lifetime, new experiences, overcome challenges. It helped me understand the true definition of friendship, to identify who would stand by you in tough times, the happiness in giving & sharing love with family, friends, team, society and most importantly Yourself.

“Its an I in HappIness not a Y.”

The year was emotionally close to me as it turned out be a second life to Mom and thank god today I am here blogging about it. (Truly Blogging has emboldened me)

All is not sundry, there have been learning’s as well. There were colors brought in , new spirits and aspirations that sprouted up but unfortunately had to limit them to sprouts itself as the timing didn’t match well. May be I was late to catch that train.  Missing my loved ones, trying to overcome my diffident attitude, identifying opportunity in every trouble I was defying gravity and was trying to pick it up rather than drop.

That reminds me of chris saying “Never let anyone tell you that you can’t do something. If you wanna get something go and get it “

The year only made my list of people to be envied a little longer. Distancing with old teams, forming new ones, special feelings towards some loved ones and doing things which may sound crazy to a passerby but are my moments to cherish.

Several first time experiences and many lessons learnt with a flavor of success along with some fallbacks makes 2008 special to me.

Tght of sharing some of my musings but no intention to complain about life….bcoz Life is Beautiful

Undaalantey History…Poratam Compulsory..Risk antey ela mari????

(To make History….u need to fight ....never leave it calling as a risk)

Introspecting self...

Today was a hectic day in the sense I was only going through useful links regarding MBA Admissions to various B Schools.

Thanks 2 Mbaalimighty, sodium potash, franken’s…for sharing ur mba tryst, atleast it gives me the picture of how hard is the target iam aiming for. Had it been not for blogging I wud not have even known who these guyz where and what they are doing for their MBA’s.

Though iam not a Professional Blogger like my peers, I do keep my ramblings posted onto my blog (even when I know there isnt anyone who is interested to check in L). But that shud not deter me…

Defeat is not when U fall down…It is when U refuse to give up…..( Read somewhere)

After having a brief chat with Ravi my Colleague and another MBA aspirer, I was feeling re-energized to look onto to my MBA Strategy.

Guess its time to think about it seriously…

Quote it...

Not many times do i like Quotes (0ne reason may be they are very difficult to comprehend)....

But came across a gud one today...

Its not Special to be Special
Its Special to be Ordinary

I shared this with my collegue and she was not at all impressed at it and gave a Skeptical look at me ...probably not everything comprehensible to me is comprehensible to others and vice versa.

While my office communicator currently holds the quote which i felt near to heart...

Being Strong doesn't mean u hit people Hard
But when some one close to you hits u hard, to smile back proving them Wrong

Hyderabad Outer Ring Road....

Mission: Xploring Hyderabad Outer Ring Road

Date: 14th Dec 2008 Time: 20.30 Hrs

Vehicle: my Bangaram Starring: Vamsi,Lucky,Shali & Raj

After a lot of dates , postponements and controversies the much awaited Hyderabad Outer Ring Road was partially opened for public use on 14th Nov 2008.

Being true spirited hyderabadis I and my collegue tried to explore the road on the same day but had to return dissapointedly as the road was opened purely for personal four wheelers. And we tried to vroom on my pulsar. But atleast we witnessed the inviting hoardings and made ourselves happy that we graced the Opening.

All of a sudden when this weekend we had no great happenings in the city , the thought of accomplishing the mission which we left last month started to linger amongst us. We are a bunch of hunch’s who believe that “Do it the moment it comes to ur mind”. Thus started the Road exploration.

At night 8.30 just had dinner with a tght to grab a quick bite on the way we headed straight to Hitech city and from there popped onto the outer Ring road. The first 5 mins drive on the road made no great thrills, but the frills started to popp up after the initial 5 mins. The road was completely new and only 4 out the proposed 8 lane’s were opened while the other 4 are being worked out. But once the 8 way is opened it shall be a heaven like feeling to drive on this stretch.

No Illumination surrounded by Pitch black night , xploding music, and cruising at 80-100 KMPH was nothing less than knocking down hard on the party floor.

The road has got some great turns and the night effect added the right spice to it.

A perfect road to tip off to International Airport just in case you have only 15-20 mins to reach the entry gate of the airport. Already the Cab drivers were cruising and learning fast the bends and turns.

After a decent masala kadak chai  at a tea stall near the Air port we reached back to the normal dusty, crampy, city roads and the latter half of the night started with high SPIRITS JJ

Rage vs Outrage…

Imagine a Sunday starting with the headline ”Acid attack accused shot dead”. Even as there are other stories like Mumbai attack and India’s retaliations to Pakistan’s Comments.,etc.

It may sound like a regular story, guy harassing an girl who didn’t accept his love and threatening to disfigure her and finally resorting to the extreme step of implementing what he threatened her.

While the Police can be appreciated for detaining the guy and his cohort company who accompanied him in this heinous crime, the good part of the story ends here.

The police encountering the criminals just because they have the support from few sections of the society who have hailed their decision is highly deplorable.

Are we clear on what is the differentiating line between Rage and Outrage. Expressing public anger over an issue and asking for a remedy for such issue that such things do not crop up in the future should amunt t Rage.

While there was a very good idea to come up with a special cell and a toll free number to register such complaints with a  turn around time deadline may sound exciting the as usual suspicion of implementation of such initiatives stand out.

But Hailing such initiatives resorts to Outrageous decisions. At the end of day we live in a Society Damn it....what is it that we are trying to explain to our next generations by setting out such examples.

What is the thin line between expressing Rage and acting Outrageously???

Oye Farhan….Oye Friday

The day the teaser was launched that Farhan akhtar (the rockon guy) was coming up with his show on ndtv imagine with his first celebrity guest as hrithik roshan, I made up my mind that I wud make it a point to watch it.

And amidst no planning I am at home today and as I was tuning into my idiot box, found that the show is being launched today.

After Koffee with Karan this was one show which I planned to watch just because of the attitude of farhan. Now come on guyz I believe Farhan is a Sensible Director who is changing the face of young bollywood.

Who can deny the fact whether its Dil chahta hai, the stupendous hit which defined the definition of Hairstyle for teenagers or Lakshya in which he reflecte dteh thoughts of young India and its attitude to Armed Forces or Rock ON which defined the first Rock movie of bollywood.

After watching today’s show I felt that I personally have a good taste. Had I not I would not have made such sensible decision(ehhhh…WTF)

Though the show lasted for 1 hour I didn’t feel it was being dragged unlike some of our new age reality shows. Hope this doesn’t fall into tat category going fwd…..

A Director,Producer,Singer,Actor,Script writer, Stage Performer and now Host of a talkshow….many more feathers to be added to ur hat farhan..gr88 going…..

Rock ON….Rock On…Zindagi milegi na dobaraaaaa………..

Hakuna Matata

Aaj subha se this phrase kept rolling out of my mouth (may b bcoz I was listening to trivikram’s Jalsa Song).

As I zoomed into office first thing I did was to google it out wat does this mean.

and my dear wiki defined it as "Hakuna Matata…..There are No Worries…"

Being Friday the office appeared so colorful (u normally don’t get to see pinks, fluorescent greens on weekdays). And also given the fact that aaaj u have SRK’s Rab ne Bana di Jodi , I am not sure how many Jodi’s are planning to watch it by bunking office.

I have my tickets booked for the matinee show with a couple of frenz..No Jodi :-(
Anyways agar mvie achi rahegi tho phir jaayengey Jodi ke saath :-) :-).
Hakuna Matataaaaaaaaaaaaaa....

A Mighty Heart – Movie Review

Yesterday night I managed to watch this movie “A mighty Heart” of Angelina jolie on HBO. I was planning to watch this movie since a long time. Even when it was released in Hyderabad my collegue Sambit told me the movie was good enough to be given a try.
But some how things didn’t fall into place until yesterday night. No friends to disturb on a Chilly night as no one dare to come out at 9 Pm to disturb me from watching the Prime time movie.

Coming to the movie the plot is simple. The Plot revolves around a Journalist Couple namely Danny pearl and Marriane who are in Pakistan, where Danny is kidnapped by a terrorist outfit . The movie revolves around the Trauma faced by Marriane to rescue her husband from the dreadful claws of the Terrorist outfit.

Now the movie is based on a True Incident where the characters have been etched based on the real life story of Danny Pearl. The movie also shows the interviews of US Secretary Mr.Colin Powell who talks to Pakistan President Musharaf regarding the the actions to be taken against the terrorist outfit.

For the first time I saw a movie in which Angelina did a de-glamorized role. The movie is extensively shot in Pakistan and India. Versatile actor Irfan khan plays the role of a Pakistani Cop who tries to chase the Outfit. I personally liked the lady Asra she looked very cute.

The movie moves at a very rapid pace that you never feel bored.

HIV Vs AIDs

How many of us know that HIV and AIDs are not synonyms. But when we speak we try to use them as Synonyms. I agree that its purely due to ignorance that we use them.

Even till date I thought both mean the same. And thanks Manoj for helping me to come out of this Illusion.

The below are the facts relating to HIV and AIDS….

• “Human Immunodeficiency Virus”
• A specific type of virus (a retrovirus)
• HIV is the virus which can lead to AIDS.
• HIV reduces body's immunities so they have more difficulty fighting off diseases.
• The immune system can never fully get rid of HIV because the virus attacks the immune system itself--the very thing that would normally get rid of a virus

• Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome
• Disease limits the body’s ability to fight infection
• A person with AIDS has a very weak immune system
• AIDS is a syndrome, resulting from low immunity tolerance which is signified by the presence of specific health conditions called opportunistic infections (OI).
• These infections are caused by microbes such as viruses or bacteria that usually do not make healthy people sick. Some of these infections include Lymphoma (& other specific cancers), Candidiasis, recurrent Pneumonia, Dementia, Tuberculosis etc.

To make it Simple……HIV is the Cause and AIDS is the Effect.

Ps: This initiative is with regard to Project Chetana. The details of which can be found in the below post.

fAn ThE fLaMeS…………..

Q: What is full form of AIDS?
Me: AIDS means Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome.
******************
That was my answer in my schooldays. I almost scored 10 upon 10 in my General knowledge by answering correctly this single question (along with 9 othersJ). But never wondered what does that mean. Since that was a topic which was meant to be not discussed.

Though everyone talks a lot about “Aids” in Debates, Elocutions and Essay Writings not every one Walks the Talk.

A couple of months back I remember, I was having coffee with one of my colleague and I said her that I got a new ringtone and played it. She started blushing and asked me to stop that as I cant play that ringtone in public. All this because I played the ringtone of “Condom Condom”, the one being aired on television which has been issued by Government of India.

This is the same with most of us I guess. We are brave enough to talk about Condom, Sex, AIDS only in debates and speeches but when you have to face it , there is an Unwritten rule, Unspoken commandment that we are not supposed to talk about them.

But with the advent of media, new ways of packaging the message to attract the Youth has been a in-process-Success . The various initiatives like Social Forums, NGO’s increasing their reach to the audience with the message that AIDS is not a topic to be left un-discussed, the winds have started to blow in the right direction.

All it requires is fanning these flames which I guess we all could do to be a part of.
Coming December 1st – International Aids Day, we from Satyam are planning to launch some initiatives in this regards to spread awareness ( in true spirit -not the regular buy a red ribbon one)to fan the flames in the right direction.

We want to contribute our drop into the ocean and so are open for any of you who may want to join us and fan the flames.

The Project name is Chetana . As of now the plans are being chalked out and we would be happy if YOU also want to be a part of Chetana.

Aavakayi Biryani….

Now that’s an interesting title to draw Biryani aficionados to a movie and in particular to hyderabadi’s. It was sufficient enough to draw regular movie buffs to theater’s and when it comes from Shekar Kammula’s Camp the excitement just gets to the next level.

Given the fact that Shekar is now well established in Tollywood, and his experience with experimenting new subjects you always expect a good movie from his camp office. Anish Kuruvulla the director of this movie, is the same guy who plays the role of friend of Anand in the movie Anand (who says…Asalu roopa Anand mundu Cheema..Anand Enugu..hahaha)

After a Hectic week I thought I need to take a break from my regular schedule and which movie else gives you the feel of watching a good movie than Amigo’s Production. So I created the similar excitement in a couple of friends and managed to bring them to the theatre for the movie with a pomis ethat after the movie we shall have biryaani JJ.

Though I already read Jeevi’s review on the movie, I wanted to give my take on the movie. When people deliver a success others start expecting little more than that and you need to fight to stand up to their expectations. I guess now that’s the thought of Jeevi

Aavakayi biryaani is all about a middle class girl who makes her living by selling home made pickle (Maa oori Aavakayi),who dreams about making big in life by opening a restaurant on the high way. She meets up with Akbar an Autodriver struggling to clear his BCOM to get a well settled job.

The movie touchs issues like hindu-muslim sentiment, education in a village, exploitation of villagers by a few influential people.

The movie brings in a fresh feel away from noisy roads of city in the backdrop of devarakonda – vikarabad stretch.

I think Anish did a wonderful job to recreate the magic of a pakka village background movie with the tenderness of Innocence. Kudos Anish!!!! I haven’t seen his debutant movie “Confessions of a film director”(iam not sure if that’s the exact name…shall give it a try).

As far as the acting is concerned…Kamal has done a neat job with very good histrionics and Bindu as a perfect Padaharanala Telugu Aadapaduchu was Dazzling in langa voni’s and Sarees.

I consider the movie is a paisa wasool and a movie to be seen whole heartedly to enjoy the fragrance of fresh feel.

Hope there every menu in Hyderabad will have a special dish called Aavakayi Biryani…..

Confessions of a Business Analyst….

All these day I didn’t feel the real effect of the Global Economic crisis, Job Lay offs and stuff. But today all of a sudden the axe fell on my team.

Every one in my team except ME, my team member, my boss, my boss’s boss and his boss…all them have been moved out of my business. I am left all alone in this team.

It makes me feel like Tom hanks in Cast Away LL.All alone in this turmoil.

This was the team which helped me identify my strengths, my passion, my goal. This was the team that made my wish of doing an MBA top up my agenda. I always consider myself lucky that I had been part of this dynamic team which helped me transform from a fresh Engineering Graduate to a recognized Business Analyst.

There was so much of learning I had from all my peer’s starting from my boss, to her boss and to his boss. Since this was my first reporting line in a corporate, I had the opportunity to showcase my talent and I was fortunate to be equally recognized for my contributions.(which is quite rare in corporate)

I never had to call anyone Sir/Ma’m, every one was addressed by their first name irrespective of their level (even the senior Vice president). That was not a common trait that I found in many others of similar cadre.

Hey Boss(‘s) Thank You for the learning opportunity.

And finally Pilli, u have been a wonderful team member. You make the team cheerful and bring smile on my face. You helped me to realize work- life balance and remain bindaaas round the clock.

All the Best in your new role.

@Team...I miss you all...

The White Tiger – Not my cup of tea.

Last week my sister brought this book “The White Tiger” written by Aravind Adiga. I have heard quite a lot about the book more so because of the recent Man Booker Prize being bestowed upon to it.

Adding too my interest was the fact that this was a Fiction based book. I started the book with great interest and after completing 50 pages felt the book was dragging. But I had my inner conscience telling me to see what’s so interesting in this book that it made to the coveted honor.

Pretending to be an Intellectual (as though I am and ardent fan of such booker prize books) I could hardly complete 100 pages. And the count is still going ahead. Whenever I am not feeling sleepy I try to induce sleep onto myself my re-opening this book.

Today after lunch, in my office I found an article about “The White Tiger” in Outlook magazine. Now since I have some information about what the book is about I tried to burry myself into the article. Off late all the reviews I read about this book, every one was gung-ho about the book.

But the article threw light on the other side of the coin. Thanks to the author for making me feel confident about my judgement. The author also agrees with me that the book was not so exciting one. Also the Times of India article quote starting with “allege” phrase made the reading interesting.

Now every book will have both lovers and dissidents, may be for this book I fall into the list of non ardent fans. May be this was not my cup of tea.

But nevertheless iam happy that an Indian author’s book has been selected for this honor (irrespective of the controversies surrounding it post the award)

Congratulations Adiga!!!

Paul Krugman awarded the Nobel Prize for 2008

Well well well…Paul Krugman has been awarded the 2008 Nobel prize in the Ecnomics Section.

Now for all those of you who do not know who he is, take "The Hindu"  newspaper and open the Editorial, just opposite to the Editorial page will be Paul krugman’s column in the Op-Ed page.(just check 2-3 continous days and you shall find atleast one of his article).

Iam not a regular reader of his articles, though I tried my level best at times little did I understand what he writes about.(May be coveted prizes are given to people who write like that…J).

There were many a time, I started his article and left it in between because it didn’t make Head or tail to me. Some times it even appeared as if iam not reading an English newspaper.

Fairly my intention  is not to make mockery of him. The way he articulates issues ranging from Economic perspective is mind boggling. To put out such an article requires great amount of Analysis and Logical thinking to put those thoughts across and not to forget the Vocab he uses (Its the finest of all) . Though at times it appears a lot more verbatim/Verbose may be I need to grow up to that stage where in I can understand his thoughts.

Hearty Congratulations to Mr.Krugman. Your Articles set my bar higher..JJJ

Kotha Bangaru Lokam…Waiting for me!!!

“Happy Dussera”, now that’s what has been beeping on my mobile since today morning.

But just mere SMSing does it make my festival Happy. May be Yes bcoz atleast they have thought about me on this day or may be not as it was an exercise that they did.

Day long I was hoping to catch up with regular activity of catching up with friends and having our normal gupship but little did I realize that it can be way different from what I expected.

So what should I do?? Lackadaisically I turned onto net and fumbled up on idlebrain to see Jeevi’s review for the movie “Kotha Bangaru Lokam” (I was expecting the movie to be good because of the Music and the look & feel of the Posters and ad campaign made me feel like that…or may be its called Sixth Sense). Jeevi gave a mind boggling review of the movie and a rating of 4 up on scale of 5 (mind you he gave 4.5 for Bommarillu so can expect his rating value).

The time was 7.30 Pm and there is only one chance of making it to the movie and that’s Second Show. I checked with my friends and none of their Calendar’s was free.

As I was idling time just thought how about hitting to the movie with Mom.

Vroooooooooooooooom…that’s it went to the theatre to get the tickets but unfortunately the Queue was long enough so that I had the time to go back home and come along with Mom to get the tickets since the ladies Queue was decent enough .

Finally we got the Tickets.(also mom helped 2 more guys by purchasing some tickets for them as well).

Now my decision to take mom for this Movie proved to be a great idea as by the Interval the movie was so pleasant that mom was totally immersed into the movie.

Now coming to the movie though I plan to write a separate blog about it, a crisp review goes here…..A Fresh, Romantic, enticing, College Love Story. If Happy Days made you feel nostalgic about your Engineering Days this movie is definitely going to make you reminiscent of your Intermediate Days.

Fabulously picturised in the most picturesque locations of godavari, with music as an asset, the movie tries to balance the thin line between what parents think about children in the age group of 15-19 and what the Children feel like doing .

The lead roles of Varun and Swetha are very good.(Though I preferred to watch Swetha than Varun on the Screen….oops). Swetha is a debutant actress and she is most famous for her role of the dumb hero’s sister in the movie Iqbal. While equal importance has been given to Jayasudha & Prakashraj(Hero’s Mom and Dad) and Ahuti Prasad (Heroine’s Dad)

To put it in One line it’s a story about a middle class guy falling in love with a Rich girl during their Intermediate and how do they face the Consequences.

And by the time the move was over audience would be left with a heavy heart, feelings pouring out just like as it is with me now.(imagine I am composing this blog at midnight 1.00AM    &@$(*&@$)

All in all my dussera concluded happily with mom as I was able to spend some time with mom and that too in the company of a Very Good Movie.

If I were to recommend, do watch the movie with your Loved ones , not the regular friend’s circle. You will feel better and would start to add value to your relationship.

Addukogaladhaaa vegam “Kotha Bangaaru Lokam pilsitey”……
